| Despite the current economy and upcoming holidays, this past month, local citizens and businesses worked together in donating to a good cause. On September 30th, the Huntingtown VFD announced that for the 1st time ever, we would be collecting coats/jackets (and other winter clothing) for needy children in Calvert County. Saturday November 8 at 1000 hours, the doors to Huntingtown VFD opened for the distribution of approximately 400 coats. All of the remaining/undistributed coats were given to a local charity that afternoon.
The Huntingtown VFD would like to personally thank: Owings Thrift Shop, Prince Frederick Walmart, Tidewater School (Kindergarten & 1st grade), Primetime Daycare, and of course the citizens of Calvert County. This would not have occured without the help of Lori Kerns and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Thanks again to everybody that assisted and we are certain that this hopefully made a difference in several children's lives. |
