Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 1943 hours, Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 62 (Lt Thrasher), Squad 6 (Capt Collins), and Tanker 6 (Gadway, J) were alerted to 1943 Mission Drive for the possible attic/closet fire, 501 Box. First arriving Chief 5A and Engine 51 reported nothing evident. Engine 62 arrived, picking up Engine 51's line. Squad 6 arrived as the 1st Special Service and was requested to the scene. Tanker 6 arrived and supplied Engine 62. Upon entry, Engine 51's crew found a small fire in the attic, which was quickly extinguished. Engine 62 assisted with opening up the walls below the fire. Squad 6 utilized the Thermal Imager to check for extension and also with overhaul.

With this incident ongoing, the only pieces remaining in Huntingtown VFD were 2 Brush trucks and 2 Ambulances. At 2000 hours, a 1st due box was alerted to 5460 Huntingtown Road for smoke in the house. Because of the above incident, the assignment was dramatically altered bringing units normally not even due to this address. The only piece due from Huntingtown was A-69. However, the Huntingtown Volunteers quickly responded with Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6C (from the above incident), Captain 6 (Mckenny), Safety Officer 6 (Bowen), Brush 6 (Montgomery Jr), and Ambulance 69 (Borden). Huntingtown units arrived and found a tree struck by lightning next door. The assignment was quickly turned back and units returned to service.
