| Saturday March 18, 2008, the Washington-DC Metropolitan area was being hit with a 2nd day of heavy rains and winds. Around 1600 hours on Saturday, a wind warning was issued for wind gusts approximately 65+ mph. Around 1630 hours, the winds struck Huntingtown and crews were about to hit the street. Fortunately, nothing major occured except for several trees down, wires down, small brush fire, pole fire, etc. However, during this time, 5 crews remained on the street at one point in time. Engine 61 was handling a pole fire, Engine 62, Jeep 6, and Brush 6 were handling seperate trees down, and Ambulance 68 handled a medical. With these 5 crews on the street, an additional crew remained in quarters to staff Squad 6. During the day and night, Huntingtown crews answered over one dozen calls for service including a 1st due box (Chief 6B, Engine 61, Squad 6, Tanker 6, Ambulance 69) for smoke in the house early Sunday morning (good intent).
