Wednesday evening, February 13, 2008 at 1718 hours, Engine 61 was alerted for the Fire Alarm in Prince Frederick. While pulling out of quarters, Communications dispatched 4886 Solomons Island Road (608) box for the house fire. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Engine 61 (Nasti), Engine 62 (Rountree), Squad 6 (Cox, D), Tanker 6 (Smith), and Ambulance 69 (Elliott) arrived to find heavy fire showing from a one-story wood-frame house. The crew from Engine 61 pulled the 200' attack line and began making quick work of the fire. Squad 6 arrived and began searching the residence (negative) and opening for the Engine crew. Engine 62 pulled a back-up line to assist Engine 61 already at work. Engine 51 arrived and assisted with wetting down the exterior as well as sending a crew to the roof for vertical ventilation. Tower 2 and Engine 21 handled Utilities and pulling exterior siding. Within 20 minutes the entire box was held to Company 6 units only. Huntingtown units remained on the scene until 1930 hours assisting the Fire Investigator who deemed that the fire started in the laundry room dryer. One Huntingtown firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor burns to the face and hands.

With multiple Huntingtown unit operating on this incident, a seperate crew in quarters handled a priority one medical call which resulted in a fly-out to a local trauma center.
