| Sunday October 21, 2007 at 0352 hours, Ambulance 58 (Dunkirk) was returning from the hospital when they witnessed a serious accident. They immediately called it in alerting Chief 6B (Montgomery), Engine 62 (Morgan), Squad 6 (Capt Patin), and Ambulance 69 (Gadway, J) for the auto accident with fire. Huntingtown units arrived to find a vehicle overturned and on fire several hundred feet off the roadway. The crew from Ambulance 58 and a Huntingtown member POV (C. Cox) had already begun an attack on the fire with 2 extinguishers. The crew from Engine 62 quickly stretched the front bumper line and made quick work of the remaining fire. Due to the driver (or occupants) unable to be found, an extensive search was conducted with the Thermal Imagers in addition to a Maryland State Police helicopter. Local search dogs were also called into the scene to assist. The dogs traced the driver's scent several miles north of the accident scene. He was eventually found a few hours later by police uninjured. Huntingtown units returned to service at 0544 hours. All pictures courtesy of www.dchookedonphotography.com |
