Sunday September 16, 2007, in the early evening hours, Chief 6B (Montgomery) and a crew of 5 Huntingtown Volunteers went to St Leonard VFD to fill-in for Squad 7 at the Hootie & the Blowfish Concert. Not long after, at 1825 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers (and surrounding mutual aid companies) were alerted for the "basement fire next door to 5741 Stephen Reid Road." Chief 6A (Spriggs), Engine 61 (Muholland), Engine 62 (S/O Bowen), Squad 6 (Lt Thrasher), Tanker 6 (Wells, M), Brush 6 (Robison), and Ambulance 69 (Koranda) responded.

Chief 5B (Sealey) was first to arrive at the corrected address of 5750 Stephen Reid Road and reported smoke showing from a split-foyer home with a reported child unaccounted for. Engine 51 stretched a line up the stairs to the 1st floor. Huntingtown's crew stretched a line downstairs to the basement and found the fire extending up the stairs as well as the living room on fire. The fire was quickly knocked down by Huntingtown VFD. The crew from Engine 12 arrived on location and was assigned as RIT. All searches proved negative. Units remained on scene until 2056 hours.

Command: Chief 6A; Interior: Chief 5B

On a side-note, the 5 Huntingtown Volunteers filling-in for Squad 7 bid on the run and were assigned to the Working Fire Dispatch. They were cancelled prior to arriving, and ended up back at home, filling-in at Huntingtown VFD.
