| On Wednesday September 5, 2007 in the early afternoon hours, Company 3 (Solomons) was alerted for the brush fire. Units arrived to find several acres of woods and a large corn field well-involved with fire along with several houses being threatened. A full box assignment was requested with several Brush trucks and Tankers specialed. Usually, Huntingtown VFD rarely responds this far south unless and event goes to 3 alarms. At 1411 hours, Brush 6 (Hengstenberg) and Jeep 6 (Lt Randleman) were alerted to assist units with the quickly spreading fire. At the same time, Tanker 6 (Sgt Kerns) was alerted to transfer to Company 2 (Prince Frederick) quarters. Units operated and did not return to service until 1624 hours. Units from Calvert, Charles, and St Mary's County operated on this incident. With these 3 pieces of Huntingtown apparatus out, 2 additional crews remained in quarters. |
