| On Tuesday September 4, 2007, at 0922 hours, a serious accident occured at the Huntingtown Compactor site on HuntingCreek Road. Chief 6B (Montgomery) was at the location unloading his trash, when he happened to hear a man hysterically screaming. Immediately, he found a man at another trash bin jumping up and down screaming. Chief 6B ran over to the man and found that on his left foot, he had been completely degloved from the ankle down with all 5 toes amputated. His tendons and bones were fully exposed and he was severely bleeding. Chief 6B immediately began EMS care with the supplies out of Command 6. He also requested an Ambulance, Medic Unit, and Helicopter. Engine 62 (Robison) and Ambulance 68 (Dickerson) responded and assisted with patient care. The patient was flown to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Units cleared at 0956 hours. Local police agencies were on-scene due to this being Industrial, as well as OSHA and MOSHA. Apparently, the driver of one of the trash bin trucks was unloading/loading one of the large bins when for reasons unknown, the victim's foot became involved. |
