| On Thursday, August 23, 2007, Huntingtown VFD Sergeant, Larry Kerns along with 3 other fellow firefighters (Captain D'Intino, Pete Lusby, and Curtis King) received the Navy Fire & Emergency Services Program "Firefighter Heroism Award of the Year". This in recognition of their significant achievement and contributions to the United States Navy.
On Friday, August 24, 2006, Larry along with the 3 other fellow firefighter were recognized by the Department of Defense for their heroic efforts on October 31, 2006. During the evening time hours, Captain D'Intino, Pete Lusby, Larry Kerns, and Curtis King (federal firefighters) were assigned to Engine 151 (Retired Navy Base--CBD) and assisted in the tragic fire where a 13 year old perished. The mother was found not breathing, and revived on-scene.
This call has generated numerous Medals of Valors, EMS Star of Life Awards, and Firefighter Heroism Awards. |
