Friday August 24, 2007 at 2258 hours, just after 6 members returned from covering Squad 7 (St Leonard) for the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, Rescue Box 602 was alerted for the serious motorcycle accident at Route 4 and Walton Road. Ambulance 68 (Capt Borden) was already on the street heading to another call in Prince Frederick but was re-routed. In addition to Ambulance 68, Lieutenant 6 (Thrasher), Engine 62 (Borden), Engine 61 (S/O Collins), and Ambulance 69 (Nutwell) also responded within seconds. Company 6 units arrived to find a motorcyclist that had struck a vehicle, causing him to lose control, which ejected him off the bike. The patient was unconscious, breathing inadequately, and suffering from severe head trauma and other external injuries. Crews feverishly began ALS and BLS intervention and loaded the patient into the rear of Ambulance 68. The patient was flown to a nearby trauma center priority 1 with life-threatening injuries. Engine 61 handled the Landing Zone. Squad 2 (Prince Frederick) was specialed to the call for lights later into the incident due to local police agencies performing accident reconstruction. Lieutenant 2 held the command and last units cleared at 0028 hours.
