As many know, the Huntingtown Volunteers are constantly drilling and training. Every Thursday, the members gather for the weekly drill (fire, rescue, EMS), with the exception of the 1st Thursday (monthly business meeting). This does not count the non-scheduled drills that frequently occur during the daytime and evening hours when we set the front parking lot into an EVOC course or take the Engine out for lay-out and advancing hoselines drills, etc.

Every day (during school), hundreds of schools buses past through the streets of Huntingtown. This past Thursday, members mounted E-62, S-6, T-6, A-68, A-69, and C-6 and drilled at Chip's Towing on school bus extrication. It had been a few years since we had tested our skills in this field. Several "victims" were placed in a bus on it's side (on top of a car). Crews used all of their past training and experience to assist EMS crews in removing all victims as well as stabilizing the bus to make this drill safe and possible.

For the next couple of weeks, we will continue drilling on this scenario, however, we will also be utilizing cribbing, air bags, and "extrication" of victims by cutting away at the bus. Stay tuned for further details.

And remember-----this Saturday we will be drilling at the drill house on Plum Point Road. Additional details can be found in the "members section" of the website.
