On Tuesday July 10, 2007 at 1529 hours with severe thunderstorms moving through the county, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted along with mutual aid companies for the barn fire on Holland Cliff Road. This is a familiar address and the best way to access it is Matthew Drive (off Hunting Creek Rd). Chief 6B (Montgomery), Lieutenant 6 (Thrasher), Engine 61 (S/O Collins), Squad 6 (Ward), Tanker 6 (Miller), and Ambulance 68 (Stewart) arrived to find a fully-involved barn fire. The 40' X 60' barn contained a vehicle, (2) tractors, (4) lawnmowers, and 2,500 tobacco sticks. Crews pulled (3) attack lines off of Engine 61 to bring the fire under control. Everything was a total loss with the exception of (2) cars. Units remained on the scene operating until 1830 hours. Lieutenant 6 held Command and Chief 6B with Operations. Cause of the fire was determined to be lightning.

While operating on this incident, Command was advised of another barn fire in Huntingtown. See above story.
