| On Wednesday December 15, 2004 at 1552 hours, Company 6 (Huntingtown), Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Company 5 (Dunkirk), and Company 7 (St. Leonard) were alerted for the chimney fire at 4320 Huntingtown Road. Chief 6 (Osbourn), Engine 61 (Chief 6A, Riffe), Squad 6 (F/F Hengstenberg), Engine 62 (F/F D. Morrison), and Ambulance 68 (EMT J. Gadway) arrived on the scene to find a two-story singe family dwelling with a working chimney fire. Chief 6 established command while the crew from Engine 61 split into two crews. One crew went to the roof and one crew checked for extensions in the attic. After negative results the remainder of Engine 61 and Squad 6 cleaned out the woodstove and assisted the roof sector. At 1650 hours, Command was terminated.
Two hours later at 1839 hours, Tanker 6 (F/F D. Cox) responded to 5710 Mackall Road in Company 7's first due for the house fire. Units found a light haze and were quickly placed in service. Twenty minutes later, Engine 61 (Chief 6A, Riffe) and Tanker 6 (F/F Davis) responded to 9613 Cortland Lane in Company 5's first due for smoke in the dwelling. Units found a faulty pellet stove and were quickly placed in service. 23 minutes later, Engine 61 (Chief 6A, Riffe), Squad 6 (F/F D. Cox), and Tanker 6 (F/F M. Davis) were alerted to Yardley Drive in Company 2's first due for the house under construction on fire. Units found a salamander heating drywall and were quickly placed in service. During the above four boxes, over thirty members were at the station to man the apparatus, work bingo, and continue with the meeting on the new building's progress. Many thanks to the dedicated members of Huntingtown. |
