On Friday June 8, 2007 at 1245 hours, Engine 62 (S.O. Collins) and A69 (EMT Morgan) were alerted to respond for the auto accident at the Route 2/4 split. While units were operating on the scene, the Huntingtown volunteers noticed several County and State police cruisers passing the scene at a high rate of speed.

As units cleared the auto accident, Calvert advised Engine 62 of a stand-off situation on Lower Marlboro RD. Police were requesting refreshment's due to Fridays extremely high temperature. Engine 62 proceeded to the scene and dropped off water that was on the unit. With the potential for an extended operation and the number of officers on the scene, Firefighter Scott Smith loaded his personal vehicle with water coolers and also proceeded to the scene. As the incident continued, so did the increasing temperature and the potential for violence. Because of this, A69 was requested to the scene. Not long after A69 arrived on the scene, the situation became violent, and police were required to use deadly force. The subject, armed with a shotgun, threatened the life of the officers. As he did, the officers fired several shots. The subject was struck in the arm with a live round and in the chest with a rubber bullet. A69 quickly requested the Medic Unit and also a MSP helicopter for transport to a trauma center. E62 responded back to the scene and established the landing site at Lower Marlboro and Marlboro Ct. Pt was flown via MSP Trooper to PG Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

This ended Friday with 11 calls for service.
