| This morning, a total of 21 Huntingtown Volunteers took part in a Mock Crash drill at our neighboring Huntingtown High School. The purpose of this mock crash was to show students the effect that drugs and alcohol has when behind the wheel. At 0900 hours, a "911 call" was received reporting a serious two-vehicle accident involving several teenagers. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Hayes), Squad 6 (Sgt Kerns), Engine 62 (S/O Collins), Ambulance 69 (Gadway, J), and Ambulance 68 (Fitzgerald) responded along with Squad 5, Ambulance 48 and 49. Chief 6C established command and found two vehicles, one overturned, two patients ejected, and three patients trapped in seperate vehicles. The crews from Squad 6, Engine 62, and Squad 5 immediately went to work. An attack line was also charged for protection. As units were picking up from this drill, a motor vehicle accident was dispatched on Route 2 (613 box). The above Huntingtown units, Squad 5, and Ambulance 59 arrived to find three vehicles involved with three transports. All Huntingtown units eventually returned to service at 1100 hours. Many thanks to Squad 5 (Dunkirk) for offering last minute assistance, two ambulances from Company 4 (Prince Frederick RS), Calvert Communications, MSP, CCSD, the Huntingtown Ladies Auxiliary for lunch, and to Debbie Jennings (SHA) and the Calvert County Board of Education.
