On Tuesday March 13, 2007, the Huntingtown Volunteers, Ambulance 18 (North Beach), and the Medic Unit were alerted to 1820 Ponds Wood Rd for the pedestrian struck. While en route, Communications advised they had only received one call advising it to possibly be minor. Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Spriggs), Chief 6B (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Lt Thrasher), Engine 62 (S/O Collins), and Ambulance 68 (Sgt Kerns) arrived to find something different. A construction worker was working in front of a shed when apparently, a co-worker, backed his truck up, pinning and crushing the man between the shed and truck. The force of impact caused a portion of the shed to collapse. The driver then fled the scene before units could arrive. Upon arrival, Huntingtown units found a man unconscious on the ground with severe head truama. The man was rapidly immobilized and transported to PG Shock Trauma. Landing Zone was handled by Engine 62. At 1104 hours, Chief 6 terminated the Huntingtown command.
