On Thursday August 17, 2006 at 0338 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were awakened for the house fire at 5940 Stephen Reid Road. While in route, Communications received supplemental information advising that there may be children trapped. At 0343 hours, Chief 6 (Osbourn), Chief 6B (Hayes), Engine 61 (Sgt Nasti), Engine 62 (Grierson, R), Squad 6 (Lt Thrasher), Tanker 6 (McKenny), Ambulance 68 (Gadway, J) arrived simulaneously with Engine 52 and found heavy fire showing from both floors of a two-story wood-frame house. Due to the amount of fire (75% involved), three handlines were quickly deployed. Engine 61's 6-man crew split and advanced a 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" along with Engine 52's 1 3/4" line to the 1st and 2nd floor to begin knocking down the fire. The crew from Squad 6 made a quick primary search of the residence proving the reports of people trapped to be negative (along with confirmation from the parents). After extensive overhaul and assisting the Fire Marshall, all Huntingtown units returned to service at 0723 hours.
