| On June 29, 2006 at 0035 hours, Company 1 (North Beach), Company 5 (Dunkirk), Engine 151 (Navy Base), Engine 421 (Deale), Tanker 6 (Huntingtown), and Tower 2 (Prince Frederick) were alerted for the building fire in the area of 9800 Old Solomons Island Road. Minutes later, Chief 1 (Freesland) arrived on location reporting heavy fire showing from a two-story garage. Numerous handlines were advanced into the interior where heavy fire was found on both floors and involving several automobiles. Tanker 6 (Sgt Nasti) arrived on location, picked up Engine 52's line and was assigned to assist Engine 11 with extinguishing the remainder of the fire. Later into the incident, due to the second floor beginning to collapse, crews were ordered to evacuate the building. Tanker 6 operated on the scene for 90 minutes before returning to service. While Tanker 6 operated on this run, Engine 62 (Chief Osbourn) transferred to the quarters of Company 1 while two more crews remained in Huntingtown. Pictures courtesy of Company 2. |
