On Wednesday June 7, 2006 with one crew of 5 Huntingtown Volunteers (Engine 61, Sgt Nasti) already out on the street investigating an odor of smoke, Box 608 was sounded at 1714 hours for the serious auto accident at Route 4 and Ponds Wood. This assignment brought Huntingtown, Squad 5, Ambulance 5 (Dunkirk), and the Medic Unit to the call. Chief 6 (Osbourn), Squad 6 (Capt Patin), Engine 62 (Cox, C), and Ambulance 69 (Wells, K) arrived on location finding an SUV that had rolled 4-6 times trapping both driver and passenger. Chief established Command as the 6 man Squad crew split into two crews stabilizing the vehicle first and next extricating the victims. Both sets of "O" cutters, the Maverick Combo tool, and Sawzall were utilized to cut the driver's side "A" and "B" post, and passenger "A" post. The windshield was removed and the roof was flapped to extricate both patients. Engine 62 stood-by with a charged handline to protect the extrication crews and victims. Once both patients were extricated, they were loaded into Ambulance 69 and Ambulance 59 for transport to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Chief 6 termiated Command at 1751 hours.
