On Sunday June 4, 2006, at 1638 hours, Company 6 (Huntingtown) was alerted along with mutual aid companies to 260 Kyler Road for smoke in the house. Chief 6 (Osbourn), Chief 6A (Riffe), Chief 6B (Hayes), Chief 6C (Spriggs), Engine 61 (Sgt Nasti), Engine 62 (Capt Patin), Squad 6 (Lt Montgomery), Tanker 6 (Hayward), and Ambulance 69 (Suchter) arrived to find smoke throughout the first floor of a single story residence. Chief 6 established Command as units began to investigate the source of the smoke. Engine 61's crew advanced an attack line into the residence and found trash and objects on top of a baseboard heater that had began to melt and smolder. Squad 6's crew searched the remainder of the house with the Thermal Imager and removed the exterior siding of the house to ensure that the fire hadn't extended into the walls. With the exception of Company 6 units, all other apparatus staged on Route 4. Thirty minutes later, Command was terminated.
