| On Thursday June 1, 2006, while several dozen of our members were attending the monthly Business Meeting, Box 509 was struck on Shoreside Place for the house fire bringing Chief 6C (Spriggs), Engine 62 (Lt Thrasher) and Tanker 6 (Grierson, M) to the call with 10 Volunteers (3rd due). Immediately following dispatch, Captain 5 arrived on location reporting heavy fire showing from the rear of the house. Due this information, Communications added the Working Fire Dispatch to the call. Upon further investigation, a large amount of brush and a boat were found to be on fire. The crew from Engine 62 arrived on location and assisted Company 5 units with extinguishing the flames. Units from Huntingtown returned to service at 2245 hours. While operating on the above call, Engine 61 (Sgt Nasti) with 6 Volunteers was alerted for the Automatic Fire Alarm in Company 2's area. With the two previous flyouts of the day, this fire, several other boxes, and an assortment of Medical's, the day ended with 16 runs............... |
