On this Saturday afternoon, March 20th, at 1349 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for the kitchen fire at 60 Radcliffe Drive along with Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Company 5 (Dunkirk), and Tanker 7 (St Leonard). Two minutes after dispatch, Engine 61 (Capt McKenny), Squad 6 (Chief 6B, Hayes), Tanker 6 (Hildwine), and Ambulance 69 (Khouri) arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the front door of a two-story residence. As Captain 6 established Command, the 2 back step firefighters (Grierson, R and Colleli), advanced the line through the front door and found the contents of the kitchen well-involved with fire. Prior to arriving, the homeowner attempted to knock down most of the fire with an extinguisher. The crew from Engine 61 quickly extinguished the fire while the crew from Squad 6 arrived and began searching the residence along with opening up around the fire searching for extension.

The crew from Engine 21 and Tower 2 was requested to the scene to assist in Salvage and Overhaul and the crew from Engine 52 handled Accountability. Two occupants of the residence were treated on-scene by Ambulance 69 for smoke inhalation. Due to a quick attack by Engine 61, the box was quickly downgraded before the assignment returned home at 1426 hours.
