| On Sunday May 7, 2006, three of Huntingtown pieces (E-61, Jeep 6, Ambulance 68) headed to Indian Head for the annual Southern MD Parade/Convention. While three of our crews were at the Convention, Company 2 (Prince Frederick), Company 6 (Huntingtown), Engine 12 (North Beach), and Company 83 (Benedict) were alerted to 407 Paula Terrace for the kitchen fire. This assignment brought Chief 6A (Riffe), Chief 6B (Hayes), Engine 62 (Sgt Nasti), Squad 6 (Lt Thrasher), Tanker 6 (Cox, D), and Ambulance 69 (Lt Nutwell) to the call. Company 2 units arrived on location of a two-story residence with smoke showing. Further investigation revealed a kitchen that had been well-involved with fire. A neighbor extinguished the majority of the fire with an extinguisher. The crew from Engine 21 stretched an attack line extinguishing the remainder in a timely fashion. Command (Chief 2) held Company 2 units and one unit from Huntingtown before returning the rest of the box 45 minutes later. Chief 6B handled Staging. With seven pieces of Huntingtown apparatus committed to the Convention and Kitchen Fire, three crews remained back at the station. Unfortunately, we couldn't fit the three standby crews on the only piece of apparatus still in the station (Brush 6). |
