This weekend, several members from the department participated in thermal imaging training. Several years ago, Company 6 bought the first county thermal imager (Scott Eagle I). An instructor from Safe IR, Woody, came to the station and taught the proper usage of the imager, how it functions, and the abilities of it. Saturday was classroom-lecture at the station with a brief hands-on session in the engine bay. Today, Engine 61 and Squad 6 went to a drill house in Prince Frederick and participated in live burns, how a thermal imager is used in fires for accountability purposes, lost/downed firemen, trapped citizens, and for the purpose of thermal layering. Many thanks to Woody for bringing his knowledge and experience from Atlanta, Georgia to Huntingtown. If your department is interested, the company is out of Montgomery, New York. Their website is www.safe-ir.com.

We will be scheduling another class in the future for the members that could not attend this one. This is a very busy next couple of weeks for our department. Next weekend, 23 of our members will be attending RIT training along with the Texas Hold'em Tournament. The following weekend, we are having Line Officer Development Training with Lt. Pete Lund (retired from FDNY). This in addition, to our weekly bingo, drills, meetings and everything else.
