| Today, Company 6 was recognized by MIEMMS with the Seal of Excellence. In December 2004, Ambulance 69 was purchased and immediately following was awarded the Seal of Excellence. Since that time, the EMS Officers have been diligently working on the remaining apparatus. Today, Engine 61, Engine 62, Squad 6, and Ambulance 68 were completed and awarded. No other department in the county has this many pieces of apparatus meeting the Seal of Excellence Criteria. Tanker 6 is also completed and will be awarded in the next month (stay tuned). Many thanks to the EMS Officers for their hard work!!!!!! The Voluntary Ambulance Inspection Program (VAIP) serves to formally recognize those companies in Maryland that provide a high level of emergency service and to make this fact clearly apparent to the public. Companies requesting and successfully passing the inspection receive a Certificate of Excellence to display in the station, and up to two Certificate of Excellence decals for display on each certified unit. The inspection includes checking the supplies inventory and equipment necessary to adequately care for patients in the prehospital setting. Suction and oxygen delivery equipment, both portable and on-board systems, will be checked to ensure their proper and safe operation. Additionally the Maryland EMS communications equipment will be checked for proper operation.
