On Thursday December 22, 2005 at 2036 hours, in the frigid temperatures, Squad 6 (Sgt Bivens) with 4 volunteers, was alerted along with Company 2 and Company 4 (Prince Frederick) to 55 Clay Hammond Road for the auto accident and a vehicle into a pool. Chief 2C (Scott) was first to arrive, establishing command and reported a single-vehicle submerged into a pool with a subject trapped. The crew from Squad 6 quickly went to work assisting Squad 2 already on the scene. The crews stabilized the vehicle by attaching Squad 2's winch to prevent it from further sinking. The crew then utilized a ground ladder to climb from the dry surface into the car and quickly freeing the trapped driver. The conscious driver was quickly handed to one of our own on Squad 6 who in turn, handed off to awaiting EMS personnel. Squad 6 cleared at 2104 hours.

It turns out that the lady, was in her garage, backed through her garage door, drove through her yard, and for unknown reasons, drove her car directly into the pool. The house did not sustain significant damage.

While Squad 6 was operating on the above response, Chief 6 (Osbourn), Engine 62 (Lt Montgomery)-as the Rescue Pumper and Ambulance 68 (Lt Nutwell) with 11 Volunteers responded to Route 4 and Plum Point Road for the auto accident. Units cleared this incident shortly thereafter.
