| Saturday December 10, 2005 was a busy evening. Four volunteers were filling-in at Company 5 (Dunkirk) to their Christmas Party. Several members were also out on the street for the nightly Santa run. There were also several back at the firehouse working the 1st ever, Weekend Bingo. While everything was ongoing, Box 601 was alerted for the AFA at 3381 Soper Road bring Company 6 (Huntingtown) and Engine 21. Engine 61 (Capt. Patin) and Squad 6 (Thrasher) arrived to find a two-story residence with nothing evident. During the walk-around, moderate smoke conditions were found on the 1st floor. Due to this, the Box was upgraded bringing additional mutual aid units while the crew from Engine 61 forced entry through Side "D". An overloaded wood-stove was found and the Thermal Imager proved negative extension. The house was ventilated by Squad 6 and units returned to service at 2204 hours. Note: When the box was upgraded, Engine 62 (Lt Montgomery), Tanker 6 (Hengstenberg), and Ambulance 68 also responded. |
