| On Tuesday November 22, 2005, at approximately 1300 hours, Company 6 (Huntingtown) was alerted for the search detail on Stoneleigh Drive. Chief 6A (Riffe), Chief 6B (Hayes), Captain 6 (McKenny), Lieutenant 6 (Montgomery), Engine 61 (Thrasher), Brush 6 (Farrell), Jeep 6 (Nasti) and Ambulance 68 (Cooper) arrived along with the Calvert County Sheriff's Department (CCSD). Preliminary reports indicated that a two-year old girl had been missing from her residence for the past hour. To aid in the manpower, Engine 151 (Lusby) was also alerted to the call. For two hours, firefighters and the CCSD Special Operations Team searched the woods and neighboring residences for the missing child. Because of two nearby ponds, Chief 6A also alerted Zodiac 5 (Dunkirk) to the call to search the water. After a lengthy search along with the assistance of Trooper 7, the child was found in Huntingtown with a relative in good condition. Fire and rescue units went in service and turned the scene over to the CCSD. Many thanks to Engine 151, Zodiac 5 and Engine 51 (filled in at Company 6). |
