| On Wednesday November 16, 2005 at 0800 hours, Huntingtown units and Medic 104 were alerted for the unconscious subject somewhere on Lowery Road. While en route, Communications could only advise due to vague initial reports, that the incident was approximately 3 miles down Lowery Road and that a subject had been struck by a fallen tree and was now unconscious. Minutes later, Chief 6B (Hayes), Engine 61 (Lt Montgomery), Squad 6 (Chief 6A, Riffe), and Ambulance 68 (S. Jones) found a patient approximately 1/2 mile in the woods, unconcsious with severe head trauma. A large tree being hoisted by a logging company struck the patient in the head. Fortunately the Medic Unit and a POV on the scene had 4-wheel drive and was able to access the patient and remove him from the woods fairly quickly. The patient was transported to Baltimore Trauma priority one by Trooper 7. Due to this being an Industrial Accident, the Sheriff's Department also responded. Side Note: While 3 crews and apparatus were on the above call, the 4th crew at the station responded to the Super 8 Motel in Prince Frederick with Engine 62 due to Alarm Bells. |
