Every year from October 9-15th marks the Annual Fire Prevention Week. This week is dedicated to everybody across the nation to protect theirselves from fire. Thousands are killed, injured, or lose property every year due to these fires. Entire cities have been destroyed in years past due to major conflagrations. Because of this, the fire service must inform the community of the effects of fire and how to prevent it. Our target groups are mainly children and the elderly because they are the high-risk groups but we educate everybody. Because Huntingtown has the largest first-due in the County (45 square miles), we are constantly visiting schools, daycares, and adult care facilities to educate the public. This years Fire Prevention and Public Relations Committee was led by F/F Willis and would not have not been possible without his contributions. In addition to Huntingtown striving to meet every child possible, we also are constantly going to children's birthday parties, allowing Boy Scout's to visit us, etc which is usually several times a month throughout the year.

Huntingtown's mission has been: "To protect the lives, property, and environment of the people who live, work, play, and travel in Huntingtown by:
--Rapid and effective emergency response;
--Innovative prevention, and education efforts;
--Maintenance of a highly trained and dedicated work force."
