| Throughout the years, several intersections on Route 2 in Sunderland (613, 614, 615 & 616 boxes) have become famous for serious auto accidents. In fact, it's usually the norm for an auto accident at many of those intersections (Route 2 & Dalrymple Rd, Sunderland Dr, C. Jones Rd, Kent Road, Pushaw Station Rd, Aspen Woods Dr & Wayside Dr) to either have an accident with persons trapped, an overturned vehicle, vehicles on fire resulting from an accident, or patients being flown from as a result of an accident. Wednesday December 3 at 1724 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for the Serious Auto Accident with persons trapped at Route 2 & Kent Road. The Huntingtown VFD Fire Chief (Spriggs), Fire Captain (Riffe), Safety 6 (McKenny), Rescue Squad 6 (Grierson, R), Rescue Engine 62 (Rountree, R) & Ambulance 68 (Adams) responded to the call. First arriving Dunkirk VFD "Portable 5" advised incoming units of a 2-vehicle accident with one person pinned requiring a "door pop." Crew members from Co 6 stabilized & secured the vehicle prior to removing the pinned driver. One person was transported to the hospital before units from the Huntingtown VFD returned to service at 1745 hours. |
