| On Tuesday October 7, 2014, during the weekly Board of Calvert County Commissioners Meeting, the Commissioners recognized the annual Fire Prevention Week. They presented every county department with a Fire Prevention Proclamation. On behalf of the Huntingtown VFD, Sergeant Haley Morgal (also the Public Education & Fire Prevention Chairperson) received the proclamation.
60% of reported home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
