At 1626 hours on Monday September 22, 2014, the local alarm was dispatched at Hunting Creek Road & Bowie Shop Road for hay bales on fire. Engine 61 (Sgt Morgal) responded on the call and found a Utility Truck & Trailer loaded full of hay bales on fire. The crew deployed the front bumper line and began knocking down the fire. Due to the amount of hay and the fire being deep-seated, the OIC requested additional personnel from the station to assist. The Fire Chief (Spriggs), Assistant Chief (Morris), Safety 6 (McKenny), Engine 62 (Capt Robison) & Tanker 6 (Rodriguez, S) responded for additional water & manpower. After an hour on the scene, the fire was extinguished and the Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service.
