| It is with deep sadness and regret to announce the passing of Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad Life Member and Past Assistant Chief Shirley "Mama" Menendez. She passed peacefully in her sleep yesterday morning, Wednesday September 3 at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
Funeral and Memorial Service Information:
The funeral will be held this Sunday, September 7th, with the viewing at 2:00 pm and funeral services at 3:00 pm. The location will be Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, 44 Dan Walters Drive, Independence, VA 24348 (approximately 6.5 hours away from Huntingtown).
A memorial Service will be held at the Prince Frederick Vol. Rescue Squad on Saturday, September 27th, at 11:00 am.
As a local Fire Chief noted:
"She performed with the heart of a lion but had the mannerism of a kind sweet lady who always had a kind word and a smile. She would always tell her members how important they were to her as FAMILY and how much she loved being a part of theirs!! The world has truly lost a wonderful person but heaven has gained another BEAUTIFUL ANGEL! Your reward is knowing that you have done our world a GREAT SERVICE!"
