| Friday August 22, 2014, shortly after 1700 hours, units from the Prince Frederick VFD were alerted for the Smoke Investigation in Dares Beach. Once in the area, a large column of smoke could be seen miles north of their location. After approximately 20 minutes and the assistance of Communications GIS mapping and additional 911 callers, units arrived to find an fully-involved vacant house already on the ground in the 4500 block of Camp Kaufmann Road. The scene was inaccessible to large fire apparatus due to the narrow and overgrown driveway. As a result, multiple Brush Units and Tankers were requested to the scene. This alerted the Huntingtown VFD Assistant Chief (Morris), Brush 6 (Lanier, M) & Tanker 6 (Rodriguez, S). Brush 6 arrived on location and dumped several tank loads of water on the fire with the booster line, while Tanker 6 supplied the fireground. The Huntingtown Volunteers operated on the scene until 1912 hours. Pictures courtesy of Huntingtown VFD member, Dennis Hook: www.DennisHook.smugmug.com |
