As the sun was rising on Sunday August 3, 2014, Calvert County 911 received a call from a newspaper deliverer reporting smoke showing from a house at 4320 Hardesty Court in Huntingtown. At 0550 hours, the Box Assignment was dispatched bringing the Huntingtown VFD Fire Chief (Spriggs), Deputy Fire Chief (Clark), Safety Officer (McKenny), Engine 61 (Thrasher), Rescue Squad (Sgt Miller) & Tanker (Morgal, H). The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location of a one-story wood-frame house with smoke showing from the rear. Engine 61 laid out from the cul-de-sac and stretched the 200' crosslay. The attack crew forced entry and found a rear enclosed sunroom on fire. As the fire was being knocked down, the Rescue Squad completed a primary & secondary search, opened up and checked the attic for any extension. Units from the Huntingtown VFD returned to service just over an hour later at 0659 hours.
