In the early evening hours of Sunday June 29, 2014, Communications contacted the station via hotline and indicated a woman had called 911 reporting her 2 year old had fallen into the river at the Lower Marlboro Road Pier and was now unconscious. The dispatcher was placing the Huntingtown VFD on standby and was attempting to have the driver stop at the station, rather than driving directly to the Calvert Memorial Hospital.

Minutes later, at 1655 hours, Engine & Ambulance Company 6 were alerted for the post-drowning at Lower Marlboro Road & Clairemont Dr. The Deputy Rescue Chief (Miller), Engine 61 (Smith) & Paramedic Ambulance 68 (Threlfall) responded on the incident. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location and found the unresponsive toddler in the vehicle with the mother. The mother advised the patient was underwater for approximately 2 minutes before being rescued. ALS interventions were immediately initiated quickly waking the 2 year old. After a quick consult, it was approved to transport the patient by aviation. The conscious toddler was flown to Children's Hospital in Washington DC. Engine 61 handled the Landing Zone and the Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service at 1741 hours.
