| On Saturday May 17, 2014, the 5th Annual Calvert County Fallen Firefighters' Memorial was held at the Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens in Port Republic. Huntingtown VFD Engine 62 attended the dedication. The Calvert County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association held the service to remember Larry Cox (1970), Donald Bowen (1980) and W. David Gott (1988) who all paid the ultimate sacrifice and died in the line of duty. Flowers were also placed for volunteers who died in the past year: John Kneesi (North Beach VFD), Eddie Catterton (Dunkirk VFD), Margaret Catterton (Dunkirk VFD), James Herbert King Sr (Dunkirk VFD) & Leonard Jones Jr (Dunkirk VFD). The Memorial site was an idea thought of 13 years ago after 9/11. |
