Thursday March 13, 2014 at 0919 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for the serious auto accident in front of 1245 Plum Point Road. The assignment brought the Huntingtown VFD Deputy Chief (Miller), Rescue Squad (Capt Montgomery), Rescue Engine (Grierson, R) & Ambulance (Bevard) to the scene. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location and found a single-vehicle that had struck a telephone pole before overturning off the roadway. As a result, high voltage power lines were down and scattered across the roadway. Firefighters found the driver trapped inside of his vehicle. The Rescue Squad's crew deployed the HURST Spreaders & Maverick Combi-tool to spread & force the driver's side door off while the Wagon crew protected the extrication group with a charged handline. The patient was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 69 and units returned to service within the hour.
