| On Saturday June 8, 2013, close to 100 motorcyclists left from Broomes Island to Huntingtown United Methodist Church to lay flowers on the grave of Josh Fabricante, a young teenage member from the St Leonard VFD that was tragically killed in a car accident 7 years ago on Lowery Road in Huntingtown, MD (he had just graduated from Firefighter I class).
Early that afternoon, the bikers arrived at the Huntingtown VFD. Food and refreshments were awaiting their presence which was handled by the Huntingtown VFD Auxiliary. All money that they collected for this memorial/fundraiser was handed over to to the department as a donation. Many thanks to the Fabricante family, all the bikers that supported the event and the several Huntingtown VFD members in attendance.
Quote from Josh's Father:
A memorial ride in honor of William Joshua Fabricante who was killed in a car accident in 2006, was organized by his father, Greg Fabricante, on June 8th. The first ride 5 years ago started with approximately 30 riders and collected $300; this year we were excited to have approximately 90 riders and presented a check for $2,200 to Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, which were the first responders at the accident that claimed Josh's life. A special thank you to family, friends and businesses who help to keep Josh's memory alive. |
