| Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 1442 hours, the Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for the auto accident at Route 4 & Cox Road. The Fire Chief (Montgomery), Squad 6 (Smith), Engine 62 (Burroughs), Ambulance 68 (Montgomery, Jr) & Ambulance 69 (Gaylor) arrived on location and found a serious two-vehicle t-bone accident with two persons trapped in one vehicle. The vehicle with the trapped occupants was the past Chief's buggie from the Hillside VFD (Prince George's County department that was disbanded in the 90's). Squad 6's driver went to work securing and stabilizing the vehicle while the crew deployed the HURST Speader Jaws, Maverick Combi-tool and both sets of "O" cutters. The roof, both passenger side doors and all 3 posts were removed to free both patients. The tedius extrication took approximately 15 minutes due to the other vehicle crushing and becoming tangled up into the driver's side, as well as the passenger side resting just a couple feet from a guardrail. During the extrication, Engine 62's crew stood by with a charged handline while both EMS crews provided patient care. Two patients were flown via Trooper 2 to a local trauma center and one patient was ground-transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Units from the Huntingtown VFD returned to service at 1542 hours.
