Saturday December 29, 2012 at 2208 hours, the Fire Chief (Riffe), Assistant Chief (Montgomery), Deputy Fire Chief (Morris), Engine 61 (Sgt Montgomery), Squad 6 (Jeffery, B), Tanker 6 (Cox, D) & Ambulance 69 (Osbourn, A) were alerted for the chimney fire at 28 Valley Drive (602 box). The Fire Chief arrived on location of a 2-story split foyer residence with a working chimney fire. Engine 62 stretched the 200' crosslay into the residence checking the attic for extension before making their way to the basement wood stove. Squad 6, working in the basement, began checking the walls for extension with the TIC, unloading & disassembling the wood stove and communicating back and forth with the Roof Division. Tower 2 laddered the roof and used their chimney chain to drop all burning creosote to the bottom while Squad 6's crew discharged their dry chemical extinguisher up the chimney to extinguish all fire. Within the hour the Huntingtown Volunteers returned to service.
