Tuesday October 16, 2012 at 1701 hours, Chief 6B (Morris), Safety 6 (McKenny), Rescue Engine 62 (Smith), Utility 6 (Cox) and Ambulance 69 (Hayden) were alerted for the overturned vehicle with entrapment at Ponds Wood Road & Bayside Road. Due to Squad 6 being out of service with mechanical issues, the assignment also brought North Beach VFD Rescue 1 & Prince Frederick VFD Squad 2.

Units from the Huntingtown VFD arrived on location of a 2-vehicle accident with one vehicle on it's side with the driver trapped. Rescue Engine 62 immediately went to work completing an assortment of tasks; utilizing all the cribbing and winch to stabilize the vehicle, advancing a charged protection line and deploying the HURST Spreaders. Additional units arrived on location and assisted by cutting all 3 driver side posts to successfully flap the roof. The driver was extricated and flown to a local trauma center. Engine 62 handled the Landing Zone and units operated on the scene until 1800 hours.
