| Friday July 27, 2012 at 1026 hours, Safety Officer 6 (McKenny) contacted Anne Arundel County Communications and advised that he was on the scene of an overturned tanker truck at Route 2 & Friendship Road; just north of the Calvert County line in Friendship, MD. Upon further investigation, Safety 6 advised it was a 10,000 gallon propane tanker, 90% full with the driver still in the vehicle. The assignment was dispatched bringing units from Northern Calvert County, Southern Anne Arundel County and Southern PG County. Prior to fire department personnel arriving on the scene, the driver was able to self-extricate without any injuries. Fortunately the tank did not rupture or leak during the incident. Fire Department personnel remained on the scene for several hours awaiting the arrival of wreckers to upright the truck. In addition, 3 neighboring homes were evacuated for precautionary reasons. |
