| Saturday May 19, 2012, the 3rd Annual Calvert County Fallen Firefighters' Memorial was held. The Huntingtown VFD attended the dedication in Broomes Island via Engine 62. Mike Bowen, planner and creator, presented the Memorial to Fallen Firefighters families, distinguished guests, county department members and others. The Memorial site located at Chesapeake Highland Cemetery, was an idea thought of 11 years ago after 9/11. The memorial names the three Calvert County Volunteer Members who died in the line of duty. The service recognized not only the Volunteers who gave the ultimate sacrifice but active Volunteer members who had passed in 2011. |
