| Yesterday, Friday February 17, at approximately 1100 hours, citizens throughout the Nation's Capitol, sections of Maryland & Virginia watched as a large, thick black column of smoke mushroomed outside of Southeast Washington DC. At the same time, DCFD Firefighters from the 2nd & 3rd Battalions were alerted for the building fire at Anacostia High School, 1601 16th Street, SE Washington DC. Firefighters arrived on location and found a large volume of fire spreading along the roof, quickly bringing a 2nd Alarm. During an aggressive attack against the fire, Fireman James Bobo, the lineman on 1st due Engine 15, (and active Huntingtown VFD Member) fell through a weakened area of the roof traveling several feet before landing on the floor below the fire. A MAYDAY was declared sending RIT Units into the building. He was rescued quickly and rushed to MedStar Hospital conscious and in stable condition. Today, Fireman Bobo is at home at his residence recovering from his injuries and in good spirits. The Officers and Members of The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad ask that you keep Fireman Bobo and his family in your thoughts and prayers. |
