Heavy Fire on Kerry Court |

| Friday February 3, 2012, just as 13 Huntingtown Volunteers were sitting down to enjoy lunch with visiting news photographer, Ryan DeGruy from the Baynet, Box 106 was alerted for the "Working House Fire" at 2630 Kerry Court. The assignment brought Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6B (Morris), Engine 62 (Spriggs), Squad 6 (Thrasher) and Tanker 6 (Cox, D). First arriving units from the North Beach VFD arrived on location with heavy smoke showing from a 2 story wood-frame split foyer residence. As crews made entry, heavy fire conditions were found on the 1st floor. Engine 62 (3rd due), arrived on location and assumed 2nd due Engine Company responsibilities, supplying Engine 11 and advancing a back-up line into the residence. Squad 6 arrived on location and assisted with numerous Special Service tasks as well as conducting a primary search. Due to aggressive work, the fire was quickly knocked down. Within 15 minutes, the Assignment was held to North Beach VFD, Huntingtown VFD Engine 62 & Squad 6 and Dunkirk VFD Squad 5. Units from the Huntingtown VFD operated on the scene for 2 hours. The homeowner and 2 firefighters were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for minor burns. Command: Chief 1B; Operations: Chief 6 20 minutes into the incident, Squad 6 cleared the call and responded to a serious auto accident in Dunkirk's first due.
