Sunday January 22, 2012, at 1635 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe) as the North Side Duty Chief, Chief 6B (Morris), Safety 6 (McKenny), Squad 6 (Lt Borden) and Ambulance 68 (Jordan) were alerted for the serious auto accident on Dalrymple Road and Christiana Parran Road. First arriving units from the North Beach VFD found a serious single-vehicle accident with the lone occupant trapped. Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle was ripped apart in several locations making the extrication challenging and extensive. The crew from Squad 6 and Rescue 1 deployed a multitude of hydraulic tools to extricate the patient while EMS crews feverishly worked to stabilize and treat the teenage female. Once freed, the patient was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital priority 1 with Advanced Life Support.

Unfortunately, even with over 30 emergency personnel on the scene, the young female perished from the collision. To respect the family and friends involved, no pictures of the extrication in progress will be posted. From the officers and members of the Huntingtown VFD, our thoughts and prayers are extended to ALL involved in such a tragic incident.
