| December 31, 2011, 10 minutes before the ball dropped ending the Year 2011, Chief 6B (Morris), Engine 61 (Sgt Clark) and Tanker 6 (Paluda) were alerted for the bulldozer on fire on Ponds Wood Road. The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived on location and found a large commercial front end loader/back hoe, fully involved with fire. The front bumper "trash line" was deployed making quick work of the fire. Due to the fire being suspicious in nature, the Fire Investigator was requested. This call ended 2011. During the year, the Huntingtown Volunteers responded to 2,611 emergency responses; a 356 increase in calls compared to 2010, when the department responded to 2,255 emergency calls. The Huntingtown VFD has now gone "scratch free" (failing to respond on a call) since May 2007. From May 2007-December 31, 2011 we have responded 100% of the time to 11,584 emergency responses. This is a MAJOR accomplishment. Thanks to each and every single member of the BEST DEPARTMENT, The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad. Fire Chief Jonathan Riffe |
