On Friday June 17, 2005, while several members were leaving the County for Ocean City Firemen's Convention, 17 members of Huntingtown VFD departed the station for the annual American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at Calvert High School (Prince Frederick). The volunteers of Huntingtown showed outstanding dedication and pride in the department and in helping such a good cause. Huntingtown VFD handled all food by cooking hamburgers, hotdogs, and raised money for the benefit. The event began at 1800 hours and did not end until the next day at 0900 hours. A team from Huntingtown VFD walked the event at all times throughout the night into the next day with NO BREAK. As of today, Calvert County has raised over $189,000 towards the American Cancer Society. This event was especially meaningful for our own members because we lost one of our own, Mr. White to cancer recently. Special thanks goes out to Team Captain Michelle Smith for planning this event, Fire Chief Ozzie Osbourn, and Jim D'Amico for participating in the "Mr Relay" contest.

A special thanks to all of the members that gave their time to such a worthwhile event and to the members who stayed back at the station to staff the apparatus.
